Becky Sue's insights and revelations about the good folks who attend her church are funny enough to make this jaded reader laugh out loud, literally. The characterizations and Texas/Southern vernacular that is sprinkled throughout are spot-on, sharp, and humorous. If you are Texan, Southern, or have ever visited down South, then you may have met some of the folks who attend Becky Sue's church. You might even be related to them! ;-) Whatever, this novella is the cutest, wittiest little book I have stumbled across in a good while. I started reading this book and got bored. The other reviews were right on target. The girl shares all of what she knows about her church members. Cute, but to me it was a boring read, so I stopped. May be good for others, but not for me.
Cute premise, but about half way through, it become rather boring.
This short book was such a delight. It is so straightforward and truthful. You really do have to watch what you say around children no matter what their age. And the small church congregation is really like this. I hope to find another book by this author.
This was a waste of time reading it. It was the rambling of a precocious child who is telling all of us about the people in the church. There was no plot, no character development and no interest. The best part of the whole story was that it was a short read so I didn't waste much of my time reading dribble.
Becky Sue is a corker. And boy is she honest. If you want to keep something private then it's best that she not be in earshot. Not that she's a gossip, she's just young enough to say anything and not know any better. However you'd be proud for Becky Sue to be your daughter because she is a darling. You will be glad that you had the privilege to meet this fine 'young'un'.
These anecdotes remind me of sitting around my grandmas living room listening to the stories the adults told after dinner or when they came for a visit. If you sat real quiet they would let you stay. After awhile they would forget you we're even there. That's when the stories got really interesting!

My twin sister, Katie, gave me a 'head's up' on this book, and she was right when she said it was laugh out loud funny! Being from the South, it is so typical of so many people. Our family included. I hated for it to end. Not a disappointing minute to it. Thanks for the great read!
